Kiiminki
Kiiminki describes itself as a 'pleasant' municipality. 20 km from
Oulu, with 10,000 residents, it has its own Kiiminki river and
Koitelinkoski waterfall atrtraction. The river is part of the
International Project Aqua protection program, and is popular with
fishermen and conoeists. Choral singing is big in Kiiminki where the
"Kiiminki Larks" rehearse and record - the group received the Montreal
"Choir of the Year" award in 1997. Other local attractions include an
art gallery and an old shingle-roofed church.
